Seattle
This was our daughter Keele’s first year doing All Star Cheer at Vertex Athletics. She had a competition in Tacoma, Washington, and we decided to make it a mini vacation and take in the sights! Our good friends, Jeff and Crystal have three daughters, Madelyn, Trina, and Alex. All three of their girls were on the same cheer team with Keele. Madelyn and Keele were also in the same class at school and became best friends. When we shared our plans with them they decided to join us. We all took an extra day off work and school and headed up. Jeff is from the Seattle area and had family there that we got to meet.
First order of business was the competition at the Tacoma Event Center. This place is huge and the girls did great! This was a big competition and there were teams from all over the United States as well as the Pacific Northwest.
Saturday night we went to the Rock Pizza in Seattle. The girls had a blast!
Sunday our two families rode the Monorail down to the Pike Place Fish Market. The Monorail was built for the World's Fair in 1962. This was an experience. We were so close to the buildings it felt like you could reach out and shake hands with someone in their home and it was fast! We then headed over to the Space Needle for lunch.
From the Space Needle you have a 360 view of Seattle. During our lunch the needle made over 2 full turns! The floor turns not the building. The girls would put notes on the window and then other people would write on them and they came back to them. From the observation deck you can see the sound, the Seattle dome, the Farris Wheel, and just about everything else on a clear day. Even Dakota, who does not like heights, has to admit that it was cool.
There are so many things to see and do in Seattle that it will take many visits to see it all!
