There are 20 different regions in Italy that are divided into 103 provinces. Each province has their own distinctive foods and wines. Florence, Italy, in the Tuscany region, has long been noted as the source of Chianti wines, and has rapidly evolved into Italy's leading provider of modern red wines. Chianti is produced in eight sub districts centered in the historic hills of Florence and Siena. It remains the most well-known of Italy's red wines and the leading user of the Sangiovese grape.

 

 

SANGIOVESE GRAPES

The Sangioves is one of the most ancient Italian grape varieties and is certainly one of the most widely grown. The quality of this grape offers the best wines in Italy. It is used for the Chianti wines that are among the most famous and expensive wines in Italy. Sangiovese is the #1 variety of grapes in Italy with 247,000 acres, and accounts for 10% of the entire wine grape crop.
