PT-What?
Are you one of the people who once received a letter from LBCC's Phi Theta Kappa, inviting you to become a member? Do you remember thinking "what the heck is Phi Theta Kappa?" just before you threw the letter away? This Friday, November 16 at 3:00 PM in the Fireside room (by the Commons) is your opportunity to find out exactly who and what Phi Theta Kappa is, what we do, and why you should become involved!
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is an academic honors society for students who have maintained a GPA of 3.5, and once a member, their GPA is kept above 3.33. We are here to promote achievement and leadership on campus and in the community, and there are millions of dollars in scholarships available specifically for PTK members. These scholarships can help you transfer to numerous Oregon schools like Linfield, University of Portland, Willamette University, and Warner Pacific College, or transfer to a school on the other side of the nation! There is no required time commitment as a member, all you have to do is turn in the paperwork and one-time fee. When paperwork is taken care of you'll have an honor society to add to your resume, you'll be eligible to apply for these scholarships, and it won't be "just one more thing" to add to your schedule.
This Friday, PTK is inviting everyone on campus, member and non-members alike, to join us for a free night of fun. Come and compete in a Wii Tournament, Texas Hold 'Em Tournament, or enjoy easy-going board games! Not to mention free food and prizes for game winners, and more information about what it means to be a part of PTK here at Linn Benton. Just relax, have fun and enjoy the free food - even if you're not interested in joining PTK - it's an open invitation!
