Buttercup

Buttercup

A few years ago my doctor told me to obtain an emotional support dog to help my deal with my constant nightmares with my sleep disorder. I purchased a pure breed Golden Retriever from an Indian Reservation in northern New York. She is a "gold". When she was only 10 weeks old she was flown from New York airport to the Portland airport here in Oregon. Buttercup is now seven years old. In this picture she took over my chair when I got to make a cup of coffee. We were camped in the Yellow Bottom area along the Quarts Creed Rd. I was hoping she would take over doing the homework also. Buttercup has been a constant loyal friend to me and is always happy, no matter what.

Buttercup Here is the picture I was emailed of the last two pubs in the litter. Guess which one is her.

Grandpa David at Dinner

My son Joeseph took my old father and I to a restaurant for an evening dinner. Father being very old and weak, while eating, dropped food on his shirt and trousers and made quite a mess. Other diners watched him in disgust but my son was calm. After he finished eating, my son who was not at all embarrassed, quietly took him to the wash room, wiped off the food particles, removed the stains, combed his hair and fitted his spectacles firmly. When they came out, the entire restaurant was watching them in dead silence, not able to grasp how someone could embarrass themselves publicly like that. My son settled the bill and started walking out with his father.

At that time, an old man amongst the diners called out to my son and asked him, “Don’t you think you have left something behind?”.

My son replied, “No sir, I haven’t”.

The old man retorted, “Yes, you have! You left a lesson for every son and hope for every father”. The restaurant went silent.

Always Late?

How many times does this happen? You’re about to walk out the door to meet a friend for coffee when a friend asks you to track down his red fleece, or you're about to power down your computer when your co-worker pops by with “one tiny question.”

Being unable to say no these last-minute schedule busters is big reason many people run tardy. Time management trick: Get comfortable turning people down. Just tell them the truth, such as “I would love to help, but I’m on a deadline” or “I’m meeting people in half an hour. Maybe I can help you tomorrow.”

Learn to just say no when you just don't have the time. You have a life to live.
