Today was Bobbie Dean Cato's birthday (Potter, maiden name), my mother. We stopped by and placed flowers on her headstone. She passed away August 3, 2001 at the age of 71. It is hard to believe that it has been fifteen years since she left us, God rest her soul.

Rick Kenyon and others are given Distinquished Service Awards for their services to the community in Albany, Oregon.
Rick Kenyon of Albany’s Selmet recalls the day, some 15 years ago, when business leader Bill O’Bryan and Janet Steele of the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce paid him a visit to convince him to join the chamber’s board.
Truth was, Kenyon didn’t need much persuading — just a nudge sufficed, as he recalled Saturday night after winning the Distinguished Service Award at the Albany chamber’s Distinguished Service Awards banquet, held at the YMCA. The award honors people who have devoted a lifetime of service to the community.
In his remarks after winning, Kenyon paid tribute to the late O’Bryan, who died in 2012, as one of his “mentors in volunteerism,” and said he’s worked to build a culture of volunteerism at Selmet as well.
